Baroda and Maharaja Sayajirao
As an affiliated researcher to the History Department of the Maharaja Sayajirao University, Baroda, I had the pleasure to reside in the green heart of the cultural capital of Gujarat, cradled by the melodies of the virtuosos, the poetic declamations and the colourful installations of renowned artists. My watercolours of Baroda touch on the Solanki remains, the Mughal monuments and the treasures of the Maharaja Sayajirao Gaekwad III (1863-1939), the enlightened patron of the arts who did so much for his city.
